I love my job

iStock_Dad+TeenGirl Ever since publishing my first songbook, Easiest Holiday Songs Ever for Guitar, I have received some of the sweetest thank-you emails.

Here’s one: “Dear Lisa, This is awesome, and very timely! My daughter and I are working on doing a duet with a couple of these songs. We are currently working on O’ Christmas Tree, with my 11 year old daughter working on the rhythm, and me the melody”.

So sweet! A family holiday tradition in the making?

Lots of people are grabbing the book and adding it to their collection, and that makes me feel just great. Here’s more about the book, Easiest Christmas Songs Ever for Guitar.

How did I get so lucky?

Best wishes, Lisa

PS: I think it has something to do with following my passion. 😉

  1. Thank you, Lisa very much for your book of Christmas songs. My wife really enjoys listening to me play them and I will play some at church, too. The word, passion, is a word that has become part of my vocabulary since taking up the guitar. It is also wonderful to have a passionate, gifted teacher like you to help us fulfill our passion for the guitar. Truly the best way to learn and stay motivated is to have a guiding light. Thank you for being that light…..Dave

  3. hey lisa, im a beginner and i was looking for an easy christmas song to play on the guitar and i came across you video on youtube and it really helped me. Thank you

  4. Hello Lisa!
Your arrangements are so helpful! 🙂 But most of all, they are very beginner friendly, which is something that most other guitar arrangements can’t claim. 🙂 Although I’m not a beginner, your tabs have proved excellent for me to recommend to my friends and family. Happy Thanksgiving! And may the Lord bless you,
    ~Sarah

  5. Let’s hear it for Beginner-friendly! I ran into a friend the other night who said that she remembers the chords G, C, and D from way back at summer camp. It’s the only thing she knows on guitar. She loves the Christmas book because she can play these songs even though she hasn’t touched a guitar in 20+ years!

  6. Hi Lisa, Thanks for checking in. I have gotten the Christmas songs down and I’ve impressed the Lady in my life. She is my biggest supporter and it’s alway’s nice to get positive feed back from loved ones. Thanks again, Merry Christmas !!! Marty

    Hi Lisa,

I have been following your youtube videos and other free stuff to learn the guitar. I love playing the guitar but time and other constrains have restricted me though I own a very old guitar. Now with your free stuff I have started learning it again. Thanks to you and the internet for the free stuff.

  10. Hi Lisa, I am 54 years old and trying to learn the guitar. I have hopped from youtube site to another. I get confused as to how my learning should go. Learn as many chords and learn to go from one chord to another, then i jump over to trying to read music. But then i came across your video, and your voice blew my away. My wish is to be able to play and sing to my wife the Bob Dlylan song “If not for you”

    • Hi Bill,
Thanks so much for your kind note – I’m delighted our paths have crossed!
If your wish is to play and sing “If Not For You” for your wife, then I would suggest you focus on chords and strumming. Dylan is a great example of how much terrific music can be had with just a handful of chords and some good strumming.
Depending on your skill level, you might try some of my free YouTube Christmas lessons, just to see what can be done with just 3 chords (G, C, and D), and a very simple strum.
I am currently working on a similar series, same chords, using some great traditional folk songs. Quite Dylanesque! A full tutorial of those will be posted on Guitar Tricks soon.
I’ve also got a bunch of tutorials posted for beginning strummers, all on Guitar Tricks.
(oh, and anyone who joins this month gets a free copy of my Guitar Intuition Ear-Training program, which is also very chord-oriented and beginner-friendly)
I’ll also keep you posted when new freebies appear on YouTube –
Stay in touch – let me know how it’s going.

  11. Hi Lisa, Thank you for the 3 songs 3 chords Christmas songs. The way you taught the songs in the video made it easy for me to understand. Finally I can play a few christmas songs. I really enjoy watching you sing and play the guitar and look forward to more videos.

    Thanks again !!!

  12. Hi I just wanted you to know that my husband found you on youtube. he plays guitar but a lot of the holiday songs that we pulled up the chords to were very difficult. With your help and your downloads we were able to play for our local nursing home!!! He really enjoys the way that you teach and it was very easy for him to play these songs. THank you so much !!!
    Linda

    • That’s wonderful, Linda! Thanks so much for sharing that story.
Tell your husband to stay tuned (bad pun) – I’ve got more 3-chord goodies on the way soon.
Hey, maybe you’d like to try your hand at 3-chord guitar too? 😉
