Hi Lisa, as for dropping my pick in the sound hole…I do it all the time! lol
I’m wondering if I’m using the right pick? I have a package of slim picks that was given to me with purchase of my guitar. I was also given a thick purple pick and my husband gave me a set of picks with ridges on them. What should I be using for beginners? and, while holding the pick between your thumb and index finger, what do you do with the other 3 fingers? do you curl them in like your making a fist or do you leave them out?
Talk to you soon, Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I would favor a medium-gauge pick over something too flimsy or too rigid. As far as the ridges on the picks your husband gave you, that can be good way to go as it makes them easier to grip (and slightly less likely to end up inside the guitar!). Personally, I like medium gauge picks with some sort of texture on them. Those are my favorites.
When you hold the pick with your thumb and index fingers, my personal preference is to let the fingers stay extended, as I tend to find something for them to do from time to time, like palm muting.
Have fun! -Lisa
